Sew I Have Been…

Sewing!

These two blocks are the beginning of a table centerpiece for our table.  I found the pattern in a Quilts and More magazine.

This is what the final project will look like… hopefully…  😂

We shall see.  The next week is busy.  Very busy.

Oh, the rabbit ears?  My mind was thinking I could use Easter colors and make it Easter eggs with rabbits.  What thinks thee?

As usual, talking to myself, but that’s ok.

Daydream (Quilt)

A couple of years ago, I bought a magazine because of this picture:

It reminded me of a quilt that I grew up with and I decided I wanted to make it.  While looking at the picture below, I saw on the left side what I consider a mistake, but reading through the magazine, supposedly the lady ‘intentionally’ put the squares in incorrectly.

Well, *I* was not going to be like that lady - mine is finished and, in my opinion, correct.  😂

I put the extra wide borders (10”) on it because we wanted it to come down to the rail on the side.

We (Steve and I) think it is perfect!

Another one goes to the quilter.  😊

Philbrook Art Museum Musings

 Here is a smile:

We were at Philbrook art museum in Tulsa last weekend.  Saw some great art:

And I realized I had forgotten to take a picture of the beautiful gardens…

But:

Those stupid people would not move so I could get a picture of the gardens!  Why the heck did people keep taking pictures of those jerks?!?

Finally, I get my pics between their dozens - but they didn’t move over enough so I could center:

Then the evening news comes on:

These are THOSE people!

Oh?  They were who?!?  No, those guys woulda been dressed much nicer, and surely that ladies boobs wouldn’t have been hanging out!!

But.  They.  Were.

Ugh.

And they had been in our paths all through the day.  In their house shoes even.  At least they sure looked like house shoes.

What do you think?  House shoes or very ugly sandals?  🤣

A day late and a dollar short.  Yes, we browsed with them for hours.  But we were *clueless*

*sigh*

Justa swimmin’  🐠

My Little Wooden Man

I passed this precious wood carving in a consignment store.  He absolutely drew me in.  I passed him up, went back, put him back, looked a third time and talked myself out of spending $20 on him.

We walked out to the car and I felt an absolute NEED to race back in and get him.  Telling my friend to stop the car, I left both ladies and ran back to my little guy, picked him up and went through the cashier, and back to the car - proudly showing him off.

We had a good laugh over that - until I looked up C.O. Trygg.  None of us are laughing now - what a great find!  Look him up!

4 Months to the Day…

The previous post is about my Uncle Danny.  This post is about his wife’s brother, Barry, and Barry’s wife, Trish.  They refused the shots, caught Covid and could not fight it.  This note is from their daughter on Barry’s Facebook page.

“It’s with great sadness and joy at the same time that Mom and Dad are in the arms of Jesus. They died together holding hands with us children around. Mom at 12:09 pm and Dad @ 12:10 pm. We had just said a prayer of thanksgiving over the both of them thanking the Lord for their life and allowing us to have the time that we had with them and when I said AMEN dad had passed and mom passed a minute before him.”

My Aunt Carol has lost her precious husband and her brother, whom she was very close to, and her sister-in-law, 4 months to the day after her husband passed away.  The two of them passed away 1 minute apart.  She (Carol) and their family need so many prayers please.  My heart hurts for her.

Louisiana Has My Heart

I just saw this picture from Morgan City, where we used to live.  A tropical storm is bearing down on them.  I don’t miss that part of our lives there.  In fact, if it is possible, since Hurricane Andrew, It seems I have PTSD; I get anxious, even here living in Oklahoma, when a storm forms, and my worrying gets worse once it enters the gulf.

We still have friends there, so even if we don’t talk regularly, we do when storms approach.  We care about them.  We left that life behind, but we didn’t forget the wonderful people, our dear friends and bayou life.

The decision to move from Louisiana was not taken lightly.  We had lived there 32 years.  We grew into adults there, had made it our home, raised our children there and had many very, dear friends.  But God has written our story.  He knew I needed to be in Oklahoma to get the correct diagnosis.  He put it into our hearts that moving here was a necessity.  We had no idea why then, but later realized God always looks out for us, we just have to listen.

Within 2 years of moving to Oklahoma, one Dr diagnosed me, another agreed to oversee me and make decisions I don’t know how to make about what is best for my health.  He made the perfect circumstances for Steve to retire, after my diagnosis, so he could be with me through my medical journey.  This isn’t an easy life.  I can’t get involved like I used to be, and we had moved far out in the country prior to my diagnosis.  We love it here, but it does get lonesome.

The reality is that with my diagnosis, the less exposure to the public, the safer I am.  So, having left my cherished friends behind, starting life in the country, in another state, prior to my diagnosis leaves me missing those steadfast friends we left behind.  It has been difficult to make new friends here, but I do have one very dear friend and sewing buddy.  And thankfully Steve and I are best friends.

I couldn’t walk this journey without those we left behind and those we have gained.  I couldn’t do it without my Oklahoma medical team and not without my precious hubby. The strength I had gained prior to our move was forged by deep friendships and southern (soggy) roots.

And I certainly couldn’t be on this journey without God’s guidance.  He has never steered me wrong.

I took this picture last week if God’s promise.

Stay strong my southern buddies.  I love you.  And God loves you more.
